Our Vision comes from Colossians 1:28, which starts with the words "Him we proclaim . . ."  These three words are the three major components of what Cross Park Church is about.

Him--Jesus is the leader of his people, and he is the main character in the story of this church.  The good news is about Jesus, who he is, what he has done, and what he is doing. Our preaching and worship will be centered on him, and our goals all relate to enjoying him and telling each other and the world about how great Jesus is, the one who died and rose again to give us full life.

We--A church is a community of worship and joy, of help and connection, of challenge and growth.  God has created us to have deep friendships, to belong to his family, and we fully experience these realities only as we participate in the life of his church and get our hands dirty.

Proclaim--The good news about Jesus isn’t something that can be contained.  He calls us together in order to be able to send us back out with good news for Charlotte and the world.  Our church is here because we want to speak good news to each other and to people who need to hear good news in every corner of the globe.

Cross Park Church is defined by the interaction between the Him, We and Proclaim.  Each point is fully understood in relation to the other two points.  For example,

Him: Jesus is the ultimate proclaimer, the ultimate missionary.  He came to accomplish redemption and then to proclaim redemption to the nations. Also, he is the one who is building his church, his people.  He is making us into a body, a “We” that exists in connection with him.

We: Without Jesus Christ, our community is just a gathering of friends.  But, because our community is about him it is formed into a church, a spiritual community, place where there is real life—His life. The community does not exist simply for its own good, but it exists to proclaim the good news. This proclamation keeps us from a hoarding mentality and it allows us to always think outside ourselves in evangelism, missions and mercy.

Proclaim: There is no good news without Jesus.  He is the content of our proclamation, and the goal of our proclamation is to show people Jesus.  Jesus continues to proclaim what he has done through the written Word, making it central to all we do. Our proclamation is done in community, and it is done with an eye toward forming a community, not just adding individuals.  Proclamation of the good news happens through the community, and it happens as members speak the good news to each other and to others.
