Youth Ministry

Get Involved

Cross Park’s youth group has regular meetings for Sunday School, along with participating in yearly retreats, service projects, and other fun events.  The group is a fantastic way for teenagers to connect with friends, to study the Bible and serve the church and community together.  We believe that our youth are an important part of our church family, and we strive to help them learn while also providing them with opportunities to be involved with the entire church body.  Below you’ll find information about our latest youth Sunday School class, along with information about upcoming projects and events.

The Vision of Cross Park Youth

The Mission of Cross Park Church is Him We Proclaim. And our Vision as a Youth Ministry is an expression of that Mission. The Vision of Cross Park Youth is to see Cross Park Youth, Families, and Friends worshiping Christ (Him), as they fellowship together (We), so that the gospel goes forth in their lives and the lives of others (Proclaim).

dGroups (short for Discipleship Groups) are designed to give students opportunity to grow in their knowledge of God’s Word, deepen their love for Jesus, and enrich their friendships with other believers. We hope that all of the students of Cross Park will be connected to a dGroup and also want these to be places where students feel encouraged to invite their friends – whether they are Christians or not!

For the Fall, dGroups will meet immediately after worship on Sunday mornings on weeks with no Youth Large Group.

Ex. – Small groups will meet (9/12, 9/26, 10/10, 10/24, 11/7, 11/21, 12/5, 12/12)

If you want to be connected to a dGroup or need a dGroups leader’s contact information, contact Spencer.

SLACK | Group Communication

  • One important topic of discussion at our youth vision meeting was communication between Spencer and parents! In order to simplify communication between us, Spencer is asking that all parents and students with access to a cell phone download the online communication app called “Slack.” But why?
    1. It’s easy to add and remove people as they graduate or enter into youth group without creating a new text thread.
    2. Easy use for both Apple and Android users
    3. We can have distinct channels within the app (Parents, MS boys/girls, HS boys/girls, General) so that it becomes a one-stop shop for all the info you need regarding youth.
    4. This will simplify comm. for Spencer so he can spend more time with your students.
  • So here’s what you need to do:
    1. Download the “Slack” app
    2. Create an account
    3. Send Spencer ( you and your student’s usernames so he can add you to the proper channels (even if you create an account through google)

End of the Year Events:

As we approach the end of the year, we’ve made some slight changes to the Youth group’s schedule for our last week together.

  • For a number of reasons, our final youth group of the semester that was scheduled for Wednesday (12/15) is now cancelled.

  • Our final event for the Fall semester will be our Youth Christmas Party, hosted by the Schmidt’s on Friday (12/17)!
    • Where: The Schmidt’s home (10425 Hollybrook Dr. Charlotte, NC 28277)
    • When: Friday (12/17) from 7-9:30PM
    • Food?: There will be no meal (so please come having eaten dinner!) but we will have plenty of fun snacks and drinks!
    • Games: Ugly Christmas Sweater competition, White Elephant Gift exchange, Christmas Trivia!
      • If you and your friends want to participate in the white elephant gift exchange, each of you needs to bring 1 wrapped gift that costs under $10! Don’t write your name on it!
  • Finally, the youth group will be taking a break from all activities over the holidays from Saturday (12/18) – Tuesday (1/11). We will resume youth activities starting with youth group on Wednesday (1/12). Location and time are TBA.
    • Keep your eyes peeled for a schedule of youth activities for the Spring semester. Spencer will likely make an announcement around the first week of January, ’22.
