PALM SUNDAY
CHILDREN SINGING
April 2, 2023
CHILDREN’S MINISTRY ANNOUNCEMENT
PARENTS OF 4–YEAR–OLDS THROUGH 5TH–GRADERS:
On Palm Sunday (4/2), we’re celebrating Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem with an opportunity for the children to sing up front at the beginning of worship!
GAMEPLAN
On 4/2, take your children to the Sunday School cabins (specifically, into Poplar) to meet Sunny at 10:15. Parents, return to your seats for announcements/call to worship. The children will receive palm branch clippings and briefly practice singing. After the call to worship, the band will begin playing “All Glory, Laud, and Honor.” The children will be led in front of the podium. On their way, they will wave their palm branches and sing part of the song. After the first verse, they will disperse to find their families while the congregation takes up the song. What are the children singing?
PREPARATION
Read Mark 11:1-10 with your children and have them practice singing with this audio clip of “All Glory, Laud, and Honor” (stream/download). All children will sing the “hosanna” part. Any child who wants to learn the first verse is encouraged to sing it as well (lyrics below; small printouts will be available for your readers).
We look forward to celebrating King Jesus with your children!
ALL GLORY, LAUD, AND HONOR (HOSANNA)
Hosanna, hosanna! (repeat)
All glory, laud, and honor
to thee, Redeemer King,
To whom the lips of children
made sweet hosannas ring!
Thou art the King of Israel,
thou David’s royal Son,
Who in the Lord’s name comest,
the King and Blessed One!
Hosanna, hosanna! (repeat)
